If you are looking for a speedy repair to crooked teeth, Six Month Smiles could be your short-term orthodontic solution. Braces are the best way to straighten your teeth and create a fantastic and healthy smile. Six Month Smiles combines the greatest treatment in braces and adjusts it to give patients a fast, effective cosmetic fix. This treatment works well for those with a busy schedule, who may want some minor tweaks to their smile. At Lynnwood Dental, we offer this convenient and advanced orthodontic treatment in Knoxville, Tennessee.

In the history of orthodontics, braces have always provided the best outcome for most patients. However, traditional braces can take up to two years to shift teeth into proper alignment. This is why Six Month Smiles is so popular with our patients. In most cases, Six Month Smiles treatment takes only as long as its name suggests- six months! One of the great advantages of this treatment is the Six Month Smiles Lucid-Lok clear brackets and wires that are hardly noticeable. The Patient Tray Kits make routine visits to the dentist easy and help to make the process move along at a fast pace. A shorter treatment turn around can actually improve your hygiene and overall oral health. This treatment option is also more affordable than traditional braces, aligners, or other cosmetic orthodontic options.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Six Month Smiles procedure utilizes the latest in orthodontic technology to achieve quick and safe results through clear style braces. These clear braces are used appropriately to move the teeth that will be the most apparent. In other words, the main focus is to shift the teeth that actually show when you smile. Since Six Month Smiles uses only a clear brace technique, you can smile through the process without a mouth full of metal.

As a process, this orthodontic method uses low force to move the teeth in a moderate and soft way. The main focus is on the cosmetic appearance of your teeth instead of focusing on restoring your bite like traditional braces.

POST PROCEDURE

After you get your Six Month braces removed, you will need to wear a retainer to maintain the position of your teeth. There are removable retainers and bonded in place retainers available depending on the patient.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?

If your teeth are crooked or widely spaced and you don’t need major changes to your bite for better oral health, Six Month Braces is a great alternative for cosmetic results. They will provide you with a healthy and bright smile that, with proper care, should last a long time.

Invisalign®

An Invisalign® clear aligner

Another great solution for those who don’t want to deal with the hindrance of metal braces is Invisalign. This option is simply a clear aligner that molds to your teeth and is an attractive alternative to traditional metal braces. The aligners are barely noticeable and give you a natural look all while fixing and repairing your teeth to create a straighter smile.

The Process of Clear Aligners

Invisalign involves wearing a different series of aligners over a certain period of time. They fit on your teeth almost like a mouth guard would. During a set time period, these aligners will move, straighten, and adjust your teeth into position.

WHERE DO I START?

To see if you are the right candidate for this procedure you should first consult Dr. Boren and see if aligners can treat your problem. She will take X-rays and impressions to decide what type of orthodontic care you need.

A 3D image will be created from your impressions and projections of each stage of your teeth’s movement will help to create your series of aligners. The aligners are developed in the Invisalign lab. Throughout your treatment, you will periodically visit us every 4-6 weeks to exchange out your aligners for new ones. The change in aligners is what guarantees a constant, gentle shift of your teeth into perfect alignment.

STAGES OF PROGRESSION

You will wear each aligner for approximately two weeks. With each time slot, your teeth will progressively move. The aligners must be worn at least 20 hours in a day to get the expected results.

In most cases, 20-30 aligners will be worn to get the right results. Some treatments can take up to a year.

Who is a Candidate for Invisalign?

This procedure is not right for everyone. If you have bite issues or malocclusions, aligners may not be the right option. Braces and surgery may need to be considered in more serious cases.

When your teeth are finally straight, and your treatment is completed, you can then consider brightening your smile with our professional whitening methods.
